Jennifer “Hali” Sweeney, 36 of Magnolia, was arrested Wednesday based on a warrant for disorderly conduct. On March 13 officers with the Magnolia Police Department responded to Dosie’s Pub and Grill in regards to the building being over maximum occupancy. The Columbia County Quorum Court met Thursday in the courthouse. They approved the purchase of West Side Kindergarten from the Magnolia School District. The county will pay $253,500 for the buildings and 15 acres of land. The Quorum Court also approved an Aid Grant application for the Free Hope Community Center, and they transferred some funds

There has been a change to the schedule of the SAU baseball series against Southwestern Oklahoma State. There will be a doubleheader starting at 3 o’clock Friday, and a single game starting at 1 o’clock Saturday. All 3 games will be played at Walker Stadium at Goodheart Field. SAU’s Justice Reliford has been named the Great American Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. Reliford set a school record in the long jump with a winning mark of 19’4” at the Marc Randle Classic. She earned NCAA provisional status in the process. Magnolia High School’s Trey Davis has been named All-State in Class 5A basketball. The Arkansas Activities Association released the All-State selections Wednesday. Columbia County producers will have the opportunity to dispose of their outdated and unused pesticides during a collection event on Friday, March 24. The event will take place at the C.W.
