Panther Weekend Sports Update

The Magnolia Panthers banged out 15 hits Friday, and they won 19 to 4 at De Queen. Magnolia also walked 11 times, and De Queen pitchers threw 10 wild pitches in the game. Magnolia scored 7 runs in the second, 5 in the 3rd, 3 in the 4th, and 4 in the 5th. Dayton Dickson led the Panthers at the plate with 3 hits. Parker Ribble hit a 3-run home

The 10th Annual Festival on the Rails is Saturday in McNeil. The Festival features the 7th Annual Pork Chop Cook Off. Tickets for the Pork Chop dinner are $12.50 each. The Festival on the Rails Pageant begins at 6:00 Friday night in the Bowman-Brasher Center at First Baptist Church of McNeil. Saturday’s events and activities begin at 10 a.m.

Festival on the Rails Treasure Found!

The Festival on the Rails Treasure Hunt is over. Four children found the treasure Wednesday morning before they went to school. The children were Taylor Kemp, Rafer Kemp, Zaranna Kemp and Scott Elliot. The treasure was under a bench, under the gazebo in front of the McNeil Fire Department. The SAU softball team split a Great American Conference doubleheader with UAM Tuesday in Magnolia. Monticello won the first game 4-3 and SAU took the second game 8-0. SAU’s Brooke Goad had a home run in game one, and Megan Godoyo homered in game two. Maddie Dow had five hits on the day. Victoria Taylor was the losing pitcher in the first game,
