Magnolia Basketball Wins

The Magnolia High School basketball teams opened their season Thursday with wins at home against Fordyce. The Lady Panthers won 46 to 31; they got 19 points from Lily Moore. The Panthers won 61 to 41; they were led by Greg Martin with 16 points and Derecus Walker with 14. The Panthers and Lady Panthers play Tuesday at Hamburg.

Four SAU Volleyball players earn honors

Four SAU volleyball players earned All-GAC honors this year. Serena LeDuff was named to the first team and Newcomer of the Year. Taylor Reaume and Hannah Rice received second-team honors, and Alli O’Banion received honorable mention. 11 Muleriders All-GAC

Eleven SAU football players earned All-Great American Conference honors. Quarterback Barrett Renner and Cornerback Quan Warren were named to the first team. Renner was also named the Freshman of the Year. SAU also placed seven players on the All-GAC second team, and two received honorable mention.

Lady Muleriders Come From Behind for Win

The SAU women’s basketball team was down by 13 with five and a half minutes remaining in their game Tuesday at Texas A&M- Commerce. Columbia County Budget Ready for a Vote

The Columbia County Quorum Court Finance Committee met Monday; they voted to recommend to the full Quorum Court a 10 percent increase in slot adjustment salaries for Columbia County deputies and the jail administrator.
