Baseball Muleriders Fall in Series Opener

The SAU baseball team lost 6-5 in 10 innings Friday night at Henderson State University. Lady Muleriders Split Friday Doubleheader

The SAU softball team split a doubleheader with Henderson State Friday in Magnolia. The Lady Muleriders won the first game 2-1, but fell in the nightcap 3-2. SAU’s ladies are 16 and 3 in the GAC; Henderson is 9 and 13. The teams wrap up the series with a doubleheader at 1 o’clock today at the SAU softball field.

Panthers Playing for Tournament Championship

The Magnolia Panthers advanced to the finals of the Magnolia Spring Break Tournament with a 4 to 2 win over Malvern Friday night in Magnolia.  The Panthers are the defending tournament champions. Magnolia Spring Break Baseball Tournament

The Magnolia Panthers won their opening game in the annual Spring Break Tournament 4-2 over Pulaski Robinson Thursday in Magnolia.  With the win, Magnolia improves to 8 and 1 on the season. Lewisville Man Dies In Accident

A Lewisville man was killed in a one-vehicle accident about 5:30 Thursday morning in Sevier County. 23-year-old Preston Lamay was reported to be driving east on State Highway 27; his BMW veered off the road to the left, overturned, and hit a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Planning Commission Meets

The Magnolia Planning Commission approved one request and tabled another at their meeting Monday. The commission approved a variance to allow a mobile home in an I-2 zone at 608 Peace Street.
