Thunderstorms are moving into Northeast Texas early today with additional development possible everywhere as the muggy air lifts ahead of an approaching complex of thunderstorms. Daytime heating is going to produce widespread thunderstorms, some may become severe with tornadoes, damaging winds and large hail. In addition, a cool front will arrive late today and end up bisecting the region by daybreak. The front is a slow mover and training of thunderstorms will brings the potential for flash flooding with a watch already in effect for day one. Some 2 to 4 inches of rainfall will be common for many locales. Be prepared for various storm warnings today.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…Thursday through Tuesday…

The cool front will slowly drift Southeast and remain the focus to storm development. We will continue with numerous showers and some severe thunderstorms possible during the day as the front pulls up stationary. Another upper storm will move over the area on Friday and then a third for us late Saturday. Finally, a little more productive cool front will give us a break from the weekend flash flooding threat and drive the storm activity to our South. Some four to eight inches of rainfall will be possible with some higher amounts through Sunday.

Severe Weather will likely materialize later today into tonight as a potent weather disturbance moves our way from the Southern Plains. Severe Weather threats through tonight will include Damaging Wind Gusts, Large Hail, Isolated Tornadoes and Flash Flooding.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for most of Northeast Texas, Southeast Oklahoma, Southwest Arkansas and the northwest half of Northern Louisiana through 7 AM Thursday. Periods of heavy rainfall will develop across this region with rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches likely with isolated higher amounts possible. This could result in Flash Flooding conditions.

Rainfall amounts through 7 AM Thursday could be excessive across all but the extreme southern counties in East Central Texas into portions of West Central and East Central Louisiana.

The heavier rainfall amounts for the end of the week into the weekend will shift southward to near and south of the Interstate 20 Corridor of Northeast Texas and Northern Louisiana.
