Panthers Advance in State Tournament

Magnolia defeated Morrilton 64-56 Thursday afternoon in the first round of the 4A State Boys Basketball Tournament in Magnolia. The Devil Dogs scored the first 7 points of the game, but the Panthers were able to rally for the win. Magnolia freshman Darrien Ford struggled at the free throw line, but still led the Panthers with 28 points. Another freshman, Coby Garland had 15 points. Senior Kadyn Roach was also in double figures with 10 points. The Panthers are now 21 and 5 for the season. Their second-round opponent is Blytheville at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Panther Arena. Four games will be played Friday in Panther Arena, two girls and two boys, starting at 4 o’clock. The girls and boys semi-finals are Saturday, starting at noon.
