Panthers Beat Fairview, Prepare to Host State

The Magnolia Panthers beat Camden Fairview 68-47 Saturday afternoon in the 3rd-place game of the 4A South Regional Tournament in Mena. It was the 4th time this season that the Panthers have beaten the Cardinals. Top scorers for the Panthers were: Markeveon Strickland with 19 points, Coby Garland with 18, Braelyn Beasley with 12, and Darrien Ford with 11 points. Magnolia is now 20 and 5 for the season.

Magnolia is the #3 seed out of the 4A South Boys Regional. Their first-round opponent in the 4A State Tournament is the #2 seed from the 4A North Regional; that is Morrilton; they lost to Pottsville 52-39 in the championship game of the 4A North Regional. The Panthers and Devil Dogs meet at 2:30 Thursday in the first round of the State Tournament. Magnolia is hosting the 4A State Basketball Tournament at Panther Arena; the tournament starts Wednesday.
