Magnolia Splits With Warren

The Magnolia Panthers wrapped up the basketball regular-season with a 65-40 win Friday night at Panther Arena. A senior led the way on senior night, as Kadyn Roach had 13 points. Darrien Ford and Braelyn Beasley added 12 points apiece. Coby Garland had 8 and Markeveon Strickland 7. The Panthers were 11 and 1 in conference games; they are 18 and 4 overall. Magnolia had already clinched the boys’ conference championship Tuesday, and they will be the number-one seed out of the 8-4A in the 4-A South Regional Tournament in Mena. Unfortunately, the basketball season came to a close Friday night for the Magnolia girls. Warren’s Lady Jacks defeated the Lady Panthers 36-24. The Lady Panthers finished the season at 6 and 6 in conference action, tied with Monticello for fourth place, but Monticello holds the tiebreaker and they got the last berth from 4A Region 8 in the regional. Keshunti Brantley was top scorer for the Lady Panthers with 7 points. The Lady Panthers finish with a 12 and 11 overall record.
