Panthers Keep Stranglehold on 1st

The Magnolia Panthers came away with a 71-67 win in a basketball shoot-out Friday at Star City. Coby Garland put the game away with a couple free throws late. Garland led Magnolia with 20 points. Braelyn Beasley scored 17. Darrien Ford and Kadyn Roach added 10 points apiece. The first-place Panthers are now 9 and 1 in the 4A Region 8 conference, 16 and 4 overall.

Unfortunately, the girls’ game went the way of Star City; the Lady Bulldogs beat the Lady Panthers 55-21. Top scorers for Magnolia were Keshunti Brantley with 7 points and Kayleigh Sneed with 5. The Lady Panthers fell to 5 and 5 in conference games, 11 and 10 for the season.
