We got a plea from Karen Siefert with LifeShare Blood Center related to a potential weather-related blood shortage. The weather event developing in the Gulf of Mexico is on track to impact Southeastern Texas and Southwestern Louisiana and LifeShare needs to be prepared. LifeShare Blood Centers in Beaumont Texas and Lake Charles Louisiana will be affected if the weather is as bad as they are predicting. With the potential for flood-related problems, it can result in blood drive cancellations and blood center closures, causing a shortage of all blood components.
LifeShare Blood Center has 3 blood drives in our area this week:
Thursday, September 13th from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Taylor High School Auditorium;
Friday, September 14th from 2 to 7 p.m. at Walmart in Magnolia; and
Saturday, September 15th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church during the Crusin’ against Brusin’ Car Show.
