Sports Update – Monday, February 26

The SAU basketball teams played their final regular-season games Saturday afternoon at Ouachita Baptist University. The Lady Muleriders lost to the Lady Tigers 98-83. That loss kept the Lady Muleriders from advancing to the post-season conference tournament.

In the men’s game, the Muleriders edged the Tigers 72-70. The Muleriders open play in the Great American Conference Tournament at noon Thursday in Bartlesville, Oklahoma; their first-round opponent is Northwestern Oklahoma State.

 

SAU baseball swept a GAC doubleheader against East Central Sunday in Melissa, Texas. The Muleriders won by scores of 10-4 and 6-1. The final game of the series begins at one o’clock today.

 

The SAU softball team split their doubleheader against East Central Sunday in Bonham, Texas. The Lady Muleriders won the first game 10-0, but fell in the nightcap 2-1. They will finish the series with a doubleheader today starting at 11 a.m.

 

The Magnolia High School baseball team was scheduled to begin their season today in El Dorado, but that game has been cancelled because the field is too wet.

 

The Magnolia basketball Panthers begin play Thursday in the 5A State Tournament in Maumelle. The Panthers tip off at 5:30 Thursday against the Morrilton Devil Dogs.
