SAU’s Maddie Dow has earned her second Great American Conference Softball Player-of-the-Week Award of the season. In their series win against Southern Nazarene, Dow had 6 hits, including 3 home runs. She also had 10 RBIs, walked 3 times and was hit-by-pitch twice. Dow has 65 career home runs; she is the active career leader in NCAA Division II. Dow and the Lady Muleriders travel to Weatherford, Oklahoma for a conference series Friday and Saturday at Southwestern Oklahoma State.

 

SAU’s Blake Hall is the Great American Conference Baseball Player of the week. In the 4-game stretch, the Magnolia native went 10-for-18 at the plate with 9 runs scored. Hall also tallied 5 extra-base hits, and drove in 4 runs from the leadoff spot in the lineup. Hall successfully stole 5 bases in 6 attempts.

The Muleriders won their eighth straight game Tuesday night at Texas A&M- Texarkana. The score was 10-2. Cortland McPherson, Mark Fontenot and Jacob Richardson each had a multiple-hit and multiple-RBI night. Richardson and Hall hit home runs. Hunter Vasquez pitched the first seven innings to pick up the win. The Muleriders are now 16 and 5 for the season. They play at home Friday and Saturday against Southwestern Oklahoma State.

 

The Magnolia Panthers remained undefeated in baseball with an 18-1 victory over De Queen Tuesday in Magnolia.  After spotting De Queen a first inning run, Magnolia responded with 9 runs in the second, 5 in the third and 4 in the fourth.  Jay French was the winning pitcher. Payton Campbell led Magnolia with 3 hits. Dayton Dickson, Garrett Clark and Kurt Pletcher had 2 hits apiece. Matt Goodheart hit a 3-run homer. The Panthers are now 3 and 0 in conference play, 7 and 0 for the season. They play at home again Thursday, against Hot Springs Lakeside.
