Magnolia got one win and Hope got the other Friday night at Hope High School. The Lady Panthers never trailed in the varsity girls’ game; they won 61 to 30. In the boys’ games, Hope built a 20-point lead early in the third quarter. Magnolia rallied and got as close as 8 points with a minute remaining in the game, but the Bobcats ended up beating the Panthers 67 to 54. Magnolia plays at home Tuesday against Hot Springs Lakeside.

The SAU basketball teams split with Henderson State Saturday at SAU. The Lady Reddies defeated the Lady Muleriders 69 to 65, and the Muleriders beat the Reddies 74 to 64. The SAU basketball teams play Monday night at the University of Arkansas at Monticello; the ladies tip off at 5:30 and the men follow at about 7:30. The SAU baseball team dropped a pair of games Friday at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Washburn University defeated SAU 5 to 3; then the Muleriders lost a non-conference game 10 to 5 to UAM. The Muleriders fell to 3 and 3 for the season. They have their home opener Tuesday with a 6 p.m. game against Texas A&M- Texarkana.

SAU softball won three of their four games over this weekend in the North Texas Softball Bash in Grand Prairie, Texas. Saturday, the Lady Muleriders beat Texas Woman’s University 14 to 6, then fell to Lubbock Christian 13 to 12 in 10 innings. The Lady Muleriders won both games Sunday by the run-rule…13 to 3 over Texas-Permian Basin, and 9 to 1 over Texas A&M- Kingsville. The next action for the SAU softball team is Friday through Sunday at the UAM Classic in Bentonville.
