Saturday is Family Day at Southern Arkansas University. One of the most exciting events, the annual Great Greek Canoe Races, will be moving from the duck pond to the pond in front of the new Engineering building; this was formerly known as the Armory pond. The Residence Hall Association Bed Race is also changing location; it will be in front of the Science Center. The Bed Races start at 2:30, and the Canoe Races begin at 3:30. There is an Organization Fair from noon until 2:00 on the lawn of the Business Building, a Family Reception at 2:00 inside the Engineering facility, formerly known as the Armory. There’s an Open House of the new Athletic Training Facility at 3:30 near the gym. Mulegating and a Free Family Picnic begin at 4:00 p.m. Saturday north of Wilkins Stadium. That includes a Pep Rally at 5:00. And the football game kicks off at 6:00 on Rip Powell Field in Wilkins Stadium. The Muleriders host the Rangers of Northwestern Oklahoma State. As usual, the game will be broadcast live on Magnolia’s Country 99.1. The broadcast begins at 5:15.
