SAU Track & Field-Saturday’s Top Performers

The SAU track teams competed Saturday in the UCA Open. SAU’s Doug Palmer set a new 10,000-meter record with a second place finish, and Chris Wallace topped his previous best and school record in the 5000 meter with a second-place finish. The Muleriders tallied a collective 32 top-10 finishes. Karonce Higgins recorded a first-place finish in the long jump, placed third in the men’s 100 meter and finished fourth in the men’s 200 meters.
The Lady Muleriders logged 14 top-10 finishes. Virginia Ney (Nī) won the 3000-meter steeplechase and knocked another six seconds off of her school record. Kenisha Bryant broke the program record in the 400 meter hurdles with a second-place finish.
Next up for the SAU track teams is the inaugural Great American Conference Track and Field Championships, April 28-30 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
