Friday Sports & Saturday Schedule

The Magnolia Panthers beat De Queen 10-0 Friday in conference baseball action in Magnolia. The Panthers had 8 hits and took advantage of 5 De Queen errors.  The game was called after 5 innings because of the 10 run rule. Matt Goodheart went the distance on the mound to improve his record to 7 and 0 for the season.  He allowed only 2 hits. Offensively, Caleb Ward and Parker Ribble had 2 hits each for the Panthers. Magnolia is now 15 and 3 overall, 6 and 2 in the 5A South Conference.  The Panthers sit one game behind co-leaders White Hall and Lakeside.  Magnolia’s next game is Tuesday at home against Camden Fairview.

 

The SAU baseball team lost both ends of a doubleheader Friday in Magnolia. Southeastern Oklahoma State defeated the Muleriders 5-3 and 3-1. Southeastern’s wins moved them into sole possession of first place in the Great American Conference. SAU is now three games behind Southeastern, tied for fifth place. The Muleriders and Savage Storm conclude the series with a single game at 1 o’clock today at SAU. It’s senior day; those activities will begin at 12:45. The SAU softball team swept a pair of games Friday at Southeastern Oklahoma State. The Lady Muleriders won by scores of 6-0 and 8-0. SAU’s Brooke Goad hit three homeruns on the day; she now has 20 for the season. Chelsea Jordan added a pair of homeruns and led SAU with five total hits. Kaylee Garner each pitched six innings of shutout ball. The Lady Muleriders go to 28 and 7 in the GAC, 36 and 7 overall. They have another doubleheader at noon today in Durant, Oklahoma.
