Planning Commission Meets

The Magnolia Planning Commission approved one request and tabled another at their meeting Monday.

The commission approved a variance to allow a mobile home in an I-2 zone at 608 Peace Street. It passed by a 4-3 vote. Richard Martin made the request; he said he planned to live in the mobile home himself. Commissioner Les Kent made the motion of approval, but he pointed out that they had refused a similar request from another citizen.

In other business, Steve Carrington requested rezoning Oliver Godwin’s property at 1820 East North from C-3 to C-2. Chairman Joe Pieratt said they couldn’t discuss rezoning at this meeting. They did unanimously vote that rezoning the property would be considered continuation zoning. The discussion will continue at the April meeting.
