September 2 Thursday
MCNEIL CITY COUNCIL MEETING- at 5:45pm in City Hall. All interested persons are urged to attend.

September 3 Friday
BLOOD DRIVE- hosted by Farmers Bank from 1-5pm. We need all blood types and are very low. Please encourage anyone you know to come give blood. To make an appointment, donors call call 1-800-264-5456 or 903-794-3173.

September 4 Saturday
MUSICAL PROGRAM- for the Noxobee Cemetary at 6:00pm at the Elam CME Church. Everyone is invited.

September 5 Sunday
CHURCH ANNIVERSARY SERVICE- at 2:30pm at St. Mark Baptist Church. The guest speaker will be Reverend Curtis Tatom.

HARVEST DAY- at 3:00pm at Homes Near Missionary Baptist Church in Magnolia. The guest speaker will be Reverend C.F. Kidd and the guest church will be Garrett Chapel Baptist Church.

September 6 Monday
COLUMBIA COUNTY OFFICES AND COLUMBIA COUNTY LANDFILL CLOSED- in observance of the Labor Day Holiday. Waste Corp of Arkansas will run their regular scheduled routes.

September 7 Tuesday
GRAND OPENING OF REPUBLICAN HEADQUARTERS- on 621 E. North in Magnolia. Come meet and greet the candidates from 5:30-7:30pm. There will be free hotdogs and cokes.

September 8-10 Wednesday thru Friday
BACK TO SCHOOL REVIVAL- for the kids at 7:00 nightly at Brown Chapel CME Church of Stamps. Reverend George Barnes and New Zion Baptist Church will be the guests.

September 11 Saturday
The Health Coalition of Columbia County is sponsoring "The Biggest Winner Challenge." The biggest winner challenge will consist of teams of 4-6 members competing over a 12 week period. Two $500 prizes will be awarded.The inital assesment/weigh in at the LifeSmart Center and concludes with the final weigh in on Tuesday, December 7th. September 11 Saturday
HAYNESVILLE CELEBRATION OF BUTTERFLIES- festivities begin at 9:00am with a parade and continue through Saturday afternoon. There are many things to entertain children and parents and many activities and entertainment provided.

September 12 Sunday
RED AND BLACK DAY- at 3:00pm at St. Mark Baptist Church. The guest speaker will be Reverend George Callaway. Everyone is invited.

September 12 Sunday
GRANDPARENT DAY CELEBRATION- at 5:00pm at Greater Harvest Church of God in Christ. Essay contest and announcement of the 2010 Grandparent of the Year will be announced. For more information, call 234-8244. The public is invited to attend.

September 12 Sunday
UNDIE SUNDAY- a day the congregation is asked to bring a pack of new underwear or socks for a school age child.This is asked by the Magnolia Junior Charity League who will collect the packages for donation to needy children as the need arises. Look for a box at your home church titled Undie Sunday on September 12.

WALDO CITY COUNCIL MEETING- at 6pm in the Waldo City Hall.

COLUMBIA COUNTY FAIR QUEEN CONTEST- ages 16-21. It is sponsored by Quota International of Magnolia. Prizes will be ginen out to the top three contestants and also Miss Congeniality. September 13- November 1 Monday thru Monday
"A MATTER OF BALANCE"- a class offered by Area Agency on Aging of Southwest Arkansas and South Arkansas Center on Aging. It is a free 8-week class that will be held each Monday at 1:30pm at the Hospitality House on 100 Meadowbrook Lane in Magnolia. Enroll now by calling 234-7410 or toll free, 800-272-2127.

September 14 Tuesday
COLUMBIA COUNTY QUORUM COURT- will now meet Tuesday September 14th instead of Monday, September 13th. Again, it was changed from the 13th and will now meet on the 14th of September.

CPR/FIRST AID TRAINING CLASS- conducted by the South Arkansas Chapter of the Americal Red Cross from 9:00am-4:00pm at the Chapter office and training center on 2710 N. West Avenue in El Dorado. The cost is $55 and the class is limited ot 10 participants. To register, call 870-863-8196.

September 17-18 Friday and Saturday
VILLAGE DEER DOG FESTIVAL- begining Friday with a fish supper from 5-7pm at $10 a plate for adults and $5  for children under 12. Saturday it resumes with a breakfast from 6-8am for $6. Lunch begins at 11am for $8 with chicken/dressing being served. Crafters are welcome all day. The dog auction will take place at 1pm.

September 17 & 19 Friday and Sunday
YOUTH REVIVAL- at the Pentecostals of Magnolia at 7:30pm Friday, and 10am and 6pm Sunday. The speaker will be Brother Jason Roberts. Volleyball and basketball will follow in the gym afterwards. Concessions will be open.

October 9 Saturday
SIDNEY SANDERS MCMATH DINNER- and SAU Scholarship Fundraiser hosted by the Columbia County Democrats. It will be at the Donald W. Reynolds Bulding with Susan McDougal as a guest speaker.
