Former Southern Arkansas baseball All-America honoree Jacob Richardson has signed to play professional baseball with the Evansville Otters of the independent Frontier League as the signing was made official on July 13.

Richardson’s signing with the Otters gives the Muleriders three players from the 2018 team that are currently in professional baseball. Earlier in June, right-handed pitchers Nick Starr and Eric White were drafted in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

This past season, Richardson racked up post-season accolades as he was named as a consensus All-American, first-team all-region, and GAC Player of the Year. Additionally, Richardson was lauded for his work in the classroom as he was a third-team Google Cloud Academic All-America honoree.

In his final collegiate season, Richardson, a native of Woodlawn, Ark., led the GAC in Hits (89), RBIs (71), Doubles (23), and Total Bases (153). He also ranked second in Runs Scored (62) and tied for second in Home Runs (13). Nationally, Richardson ranked in the Top-15 in NCAA DII in RBIs (9th), Doubles (9th) and Hits (11th).
