Last year’s top tiller racers both successfully defended their titles at the World Championship Rotary Tiller Race in Emerson Saturday. Cody Fuller of Emerson once again won the Men’s Modified race, while Lauren Smith of Buckner repeated as champ of the Women’s Modified division.
The Adult Stock category was won by Jennifer Marlar of Emerson, while Harrison Ruppel of Cumberland, Wisconsin won the Youth Stock. Max Rich of Emerson won the Flower Bed division.
Race officials described the track as “hot and slow.” A good-sized crowd was in attendance despite the 97 degree heat.
For the first time in several years, there were no major spills.
The World Championship Rotary Tiller Race is the feature event of the PurpleHull Pea Festival.
