Skeletal Remains Confirmed as Belonging to Cherry

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release Monday night confirming that the skeletal remains found on February 27th belong to Rodney Cherry. Cherry was reported missing on November 12, 2017. Columbia County Central Dispatch received a call around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27th about skeletal remains found in a wooded area off Columbia Road 68, commonly known as Cowboy Road. The Sheriff’s Office responded with the assistance of the Magnolia Police Department. The Sheriff’s Office reported at the time that items found at the scene indicate that the remains may belong to Rodney Cherry, but DNA analysis was required to verify the identity of the remains. That confirmation has now been received.
