Sports Update – Thursday, February 15

5A South basketball coaches voted Wednesday on seeding for the conference tournament next week in Hot Springs. Watson Chapel received the top seed in the girls’ tournament and Hot Springs for the boys. Magnolia’s girls are seeded sixth and will play De Queen in their first round game at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Magnolia’s boys are seeded second and will play Hope at 8:30 p.m. Monday. The 5A South Conference Tournament will be played at Hot Springs High School.

The Panthers and Lady Panthers close out the regular season tonight at El Dorado. There is no junior varsity game; the varsity girls tip off at 6 o’clock, followed by the varsity boys.

 

The SAU basketball teams play at home tonight against Arkansas Tech. The ladies’ game begins at 5:30 and the men will tip at about 7:30. Both games will be broadcast live on Magnolia’s Country 99.1, online at MagnoliaRadio.com, and on the Magnolia Radio app. The broadcast begins at 5:20.

 

The threat of rain has brought changes in SAU’s baseball and softball schedules this weekend.

The Lady Muleriders were scheduled to play in a classic in Bentonville, but that has been cancelled. So, they will instead play four games in Emporia, Kansas. Games start at 3 and 5 p.m. Saturday, and 11 and 1 Sunday.

SAU’s home baseball series with Southeastern Oklahoma State has been pushed back from a Friday-Saturday series to Sunday-Monday. The first game is now scheduled for 5 p.m. Sunday, and a doubleheader at noon Monday.
