Press Release from Mayor About Election Results

The following press release was issued by Magnolia mayor Parnell Vann, regarding the outcome of Tuesday’s special election:

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 11, 2017

It was reported last night that Magnolia, unfortunately, decided to reject the opportunity to build the recreation center and sports complex and sadly, only 21% of the registered voters in Magnolia took the time to honor their right to vote.  Even though the majority did not want this particular project, I believe we can all agree that we do want what’s best for the future of Magnolia.  The city council and I will continue to look for ways to bring revenue into the city so that we can build upon and grow the things that Magnolia has to offer.

For the past year, there have been numerous comments from people passionate about Magnolia.  Let’s do more than just comment.  Let’s get involved by being active in the community, for the betterment of the community.

A great place to start is at the upcoming workshop regarding the Magnolia Plan 2040.  It is scheduled for Monday, October 16th at 6:00 p.m. in the Harvey Couch Business Park, Building 103, Room 200.  The Garver Group will be there to facilitate this workshop which will focus on developing a vision for Magnolia’s future.  This workshop is for everyone and everyone will have the opportunity to speak and voice their ideas.   The Magnolia Plan 2040 is a big deal and will have a large impact on the future of our community.

Saying yes to Magnolia has put us where we are; saying no limits where we could be.  I look forward to seeing each of you at the workshop.
