Six games were played Thursday on the first day of the Magnolia High School Spring Break Baseball Tournament. The Magnolia Panthers beat Walnut Ridge 15-2 in their first-round game. The Panthers remain undefeated at 9 and 0. They are scheduled to play Malvern in the semi-finals at 6 o’clock tonight. Malvern won 2 games Thursday; 7-1 over Warren, and 11-1 over Taylor. The tournament concludes Saturday.

The Magnolia High School softball team has 2 games scheduled Saturday on their home field. The Lady Panthers play Taylor at 11 a.m. and then Genoa Central at 1 o’clock.

The SAU baseball and softball teams play Northwestern Oklahoma State in Great American Conference series this week. The Lady Muleriders play at home, and the Muleriders play in Alva, Oklahoma.

Today’s baseball game in Alva has been moved up to start at 4 o’clock due to a slight chance of showers tonight; today’s game will not be broadcast. The Muleriders and Rangers play a doubleheader Saturday, beginning at 1 p.m.  Saturday’s games will be broadcast live on Magnolia’s Country 99.1.

Due to the chance of storms in Magnolia today and tonight, the softball series has been moved from Friday-Saturday to Saturday-Sunday. Saturday’s doubleheader begins at 4 p.m. and Sunday’s games start at noon.
