The Columbia County Rural Development Authority voted Monday to close the picnic area and swimming area at Lake Columbia after 10 p.m. That area of the park will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. as soon as signs can be posted. This will not affect the Lake Columbia camping area. RDA board members heard from Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies about some of the unlawful behavior in the park after dark. The board members followed the deputies’ recommendation to close the areas where most of the trouble occurs.
